If you are connected to the Internet, virus database updates are downloaded and installed automatically without any user action. The availability of a new version is checked when an Internet connection is established, and every four hours afterwards. Update files can also be downloaded from these pages if required e.g. if your computer does not have an Internet connection. Updates are usually released on a daily basis.
Note: No reinstallation of the program is needed for virus database updates!

How?

Download and execute the fsdbupate utility fsdbupdate9.exe from our download server. The fsdbupdate utility contains all databases (Antivirus, Spyware, Spam, Parental, etc).

How?

Download and execute the fsdbupate utility fsdbupdate.exe from our download server. The fsdbupdate utility contains all databases (Antivirus, Spyware, Spam, Parental, etc).


Notes:
  • The fsdbupdate utility works with all F-Secure Anti-Virus products for Windows. However, it not recommended except when there is a problem with the recommended updating methods.
  • After updating the databases with this utiliy, you may later need to download the utility again to update the databases with the most recent definitions.
  • If you are using a download manager (e.g. go!zilla, GetRight et cetera) please make sure that you actually download anti-virus definition updates from f-secure.com and not an unofficial mirror site.

How?

Download and run the fsdbupdate9.run utility from our download server.

How?

Download latest.zip and save it to hard drive. In F-Secure Policy Manager Console open the "Tools" menu and select "Import Virus Signature Database..." to import the downloaded databases.

  •  Centrally administrated F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security 6.00

How can I update databases manually to F-Secure Policy Manager Server 6.00?

You can install databases manually using the updateinstaller.exe tool. This tool is located at:

  •  <F-Secure>\FSAUS.PM\bin\updateinstaller.exe

You can install Virus definitions in the following manner:

  •  Download and unzip latest.zip to some empty directory (e.g. c:\temp\avupdate)
  •  From a command prompt run following command: updateinstaller.exe c:\temp\avupdate

For more information about the updateinstaller.exe tool, run it without parameters.

If you want to force AUA to redownload all updates manually, you can do it in following way: Open the AUA Interface, go to Channel Status tab and click "Connect now" with CTRL SHIFT pressed down. This will reinitialize all AUA channels and it will republish all updates to all channels.

You can also update Spam Definition Databases for the F-Secure Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange and F-Secure Internet Gatekeeper with F-Secure Spam Control. Please refer to: Download Spam Definition Database Updates

Trojan Remover - Updates 24/09/2011

To update, start Trojan Remover - when you get to the main screen, click on the "Update" button on the main menu bar. This will check for updates and allow you to automatically install any that are available.
Should you have any problems using the integral Updater, or you need to re-install the latest Program Update, you can download and install the Program Update from one of the links below.

Beta-VDF and Beta-Engine

All Avira virus definition files (VDFs) and the Avira search engine are thoroughly tested before they are made available on the download servers. This test period does of course broaden the time span between putting new detection patterns into the VDF or new exploits into the engine and their publication.
However, there might be certain scenarios in which it is primarily important to get the most recent VDFs and engine versions as early as possible. For such cases Avira provides untested, so called Beta-VDFs and Beta-Engine versions for downloading.
